I've had 2 beagles and they've been the smartest dogs I've had out of a total of 7. For stupid, hard headed, and adorable, go with boxers.

As an owner of 3 boxers, there is nothing stupid or hard headed about them. They are among the smartest dogs around, IF you are smart enough to guide them correctly. That said, I hope the Obamas don't get a boxer because all the media frenzy will cause this lovely breed to be too popular for all the wrong reasons.

My husband and I had great success at: www.petfinder.com. You can go to websites specifically for rescue dogs and choose your breed, color, age, gender, etc. I personally believe Maltese-mix dogs are perfect. They are hypoallergenic, small and cute. They are great in PAIRS!! :-)

Pitbulls are the best breed for protection and guad. They are also the BEST family dog. They are big babbies to the family and friends, but dont come in my yard. They wont like that!! But they think before reacting so they wont just eat you first, when trained correctly they will only listen to you. I have 3!
